In today’s world, things can feel uncertain and divided. So, believing in a hero who stands for truth, justice, and hope (and the American way) might seem like a thing of the past. But with James Gunn’s new Superman movie arriving on July 11th, it feels like the perfect time for the Man of Steel and these ideas to make a comeback.
Superman isn’t just another superhero. He’s the “OG hero” that started it all. He’s a symbol of strength, and doing what’s right, an being an example for all of us to aspire to. Raised on a farm in Kansas, Superman learned human values such as compassion, honesty, and humility.
Now, with James Gunn directing the next chapter of Superman’s story, I’m excited to see a fresh take on the hero. Gunn is known for mixing action with lighthearted emotions (Guardians of the Galaxy, The Suicide Squad), so there’s hope that this version will focus not just on “super battles”, but on what makes Superman, SUPER — his humanity.

In a time when the world feels out of control and lost, stories about hope, courage, and doing good are more important than ever. I’m hopeful to see a Superman who reminds us that kindness is powerful.
Some people see Superman’s goodness as outdated, too clean-cut, even “uncool” compared to the darker heroes that we have seen in recent years. But that goodness is exactly what makes him powerful. In a world full of questionable morality and antiheroes, Superman stands out because he chooses to be kind, honest, and selfless. His values aren’t old-fashioned, they’re timeless.
That’s why Superman still matters in 2025. Because no matter how dark the world may seem, Superman reminds us that there’s still light.
