“God Willing, We’ll All Meet Again In Spaceballs 2: The Search For More Money.” – Yogurt
According to People, MGM Studios announced that comedy legend Mel Brooks, 98, will reprise his role as “Yogurt” in the upcoming Spaceballs sequel, set to hit theaters in 2027.
Brooks, who played the goofy villain President Skroob and as Yogurt, a spoof of Yoda, where he introduced fans to “The Schwartz,” a parody on Star Wars’ The Force, has been working with actor Josh Gad on writing and producing the new sequel. Brooks announced with a joke on X, saying, “After 40 years, we asked ‘What do the fans want?’ But instead, we’re making this movie.”

Josh Gad, who co-wrote the script and will co-produce the film, shared his own excitement online. “I was that child who saw Spaceballs before I ever saw Star Wars and then wondered why anyone would do a dramatic remake of the Mel Brooks classic,” Gad wrote. “It is therefore the greatest gift of my life to now help take the reins and work alongside Mel and this incredible group to do a sequel to the movie that first inspired George Lucas.”

According to Deadline, original cast members Bill Pullman and Rick Moranis are also set to return as Lone Starr and Dark Helmet, giving fans even more to look forward to.
With the original team returning, and Mel Brooks once again at the helm, the Schwartz is strong with this one.
