Disney+ has released a new LEGO special featuring some of our favorite Disney villains for the start of “World Princess Week” – Aug. 25-31.
Growing up, my two daughters loved Disney Princess movies and sometimes it was the villains that grabbed their attention. The villains were sometimes the best written characters, both with their evil deeds and comical dialogue. For me, there’s always been one clear favorite: Gaston from Beauty and the Beast. I always have fun joking that Gaston is a “misunderstood hero,” and I never miss a chance to (jokingly) defend his actions with arguments and excuses for his behavior. During a family trip to Disney World, I even got to meet “Gaston” in person, and the actor’s hilarious performance captured the character’s over-the-top charm.
Now, with LEGO Disney Princess: Villains Unite premiering on Disney+, even though my daughters are now older, I look forward to returning to the fun and humor that the LEGO movies are known for, featuring our favorite bad guys!

After Ariel, Moana, Tiana, Rapunzel, and Snow White thwarted Gaston’s plan to take over all of their kingdoms, he calls upon Ursula, Jafar, and the Evil Queen to help take the Princesses down once and for all. The Princesses learn about Gaston’s scheme and recruit a few friends of their own with the help of Magic Mirror: Aurora, Belle, and Cinderella! Together, the Princesses team up for an ultimate showdown of good versus evil.
“LEGO® Disney Princess: Villains Unite” features the voices of Anika Noni Rose as Tiana, Jodi Benson as Ariel, Mandy Moore as Rapunzel, Auli’i Cravalho as Moana, Katie Von Till as Snow White, Julie Nathanson as Belle, Jennifer Hale as Cinderella, Kate Higgins as Aurora, Richard White as Gaston, Jonathan Freeman as Jafar, Debra Wilson as Ursula, Susanne Blakeslee as Evil Queen, and Henri Lubatti as Sir Hiss.
