Masters of the Universe began in the early 1980s with Mattel’s toy line, and started me on some new adventures both on screen and in my backyard with the toys. He-Man quickly became an obsession second only to Star Wars. I owned several figures, vehicles (Attack Trak being my favorite), and of course, the “Millennium Falcon of the toy-line,” Castle Grayskull. Countless battles came to life between He-Man and Skeletor, while the animated series expanded the world of Eternia into something more. That love never faded, and to this day, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe remains one of my all-time favorite shows and toyline.
For many fans, this love is expressed through Masters of the Universe cosplay, where fans bring the heroes and villains of Eternia to life with creativity, craftsmanship, and a little role-play. Here are some of our favorite MOTU cosplays that are a perfect tribute, honoring both the toys we grew up with and the fandom that keeps the power of Grayskull alive.
Man at Arms by The Castle of Power
This amazing Man-At-Arms cosplay is the reason this article exists. He is my favorite Masters of the Universe character, and this cosplayer perfectly captures both his classic look and his role as He-Man’s most loyal friend and mentor.
He-Man by DenOfBZUC
The “most powerful man in the universe” comes to life in this fun and impressive He-Man cosplay. It has a strong animated-cartoon feel, and the muscle suit does a great job of recreating He-Man’s iconic build. The blonde hair really completes the look and makes this cosplay instantly recognizable.
Teela by action_girl_diabolik AKA Rebekah McDonald
Growing up, Teela was the original warrior princess for me, and this cosplay nails it. I especially love that it’s based on the classic toy line version.
Skeletor by bwsfx
Skeletor is one of the most iconic villains in fandom. From his skull face to that memerable laugh (you’re probably hearing it right now), he’s instantly recognizable. This cosplay captures his dark, intimidating presence perfectly.

This Evil-Lyn cosplay looks fantastic. It has a strong magical and mysterious feel, mixed with just the right amount of menace. It’s a perfect look for Skeletor’s powerful and dangerous ally.

Orko was always one of my favorites as a kid. His childlike nature brought balance to the constant battles on Eternia. This cosplay, inspired by the Sideshow statue, gives Orko a darker and more mature look, and it works incredibly well.
She-Ra Cosplay – Tabitha Lyons artyfakes
This She-Ra cosplay is both powerful and faithful to the original cartoon. It captures her strength, and heroic presence beautifully.
Hordak by Mat O’Toole
Hordak is one of the most intimidating villains in Masters of the Universe. With his robotic army and cruel leadership, he was a constant threat to She-Ra. This cosplay brings his dark and frightening presence to life!
The Sorceress by Annie Graves Creates
What makes this cosplay among my favorites is how much it replicates the character from the original cartoon! She gives an aura of both beauty and magic.
