“Time to return to NERD MECCA!”
This weekend, Fandom Blast is heading to Toronto for one of our favorite events of the year: FAN EXPO Canada (August 27-30, 2026)! Jerimie and I will be joining thousands of fellow fans for a weekend filled with comics, movies, television, cosplay, collectibles, incredible artists, and just about every corner of pop culture imaginable. And while there is always more to see than we can possibly fit into one weekend, this year’s trip has a couple of very special missions attached to it!
The Comic Experience
Our biggest reason for making the trip is the Frank Miller Experience, where we’ll have the opportunity to meet one of the most legendary creators in comic book history, get a photo with him, and have a comic signed. As a lifelong Batman fan, getting the chance to meet the man behind The Dark Knight Returns is something I am incredibly excited about—and maybe just a little nervous! We also plan to meet the legendary Greg Capullo, who will be at the convention, and I will finally be able to get my copy of Batman #1 from DC’s New 52 era signed by the artist who helped create one of my favorite modern versions of the Dark Knight.
Celebrities
Over the years, I’ve had the chance to meet and get photos with some amazing celebrities, including Erin Gray, Gil Gerard, John Rhys-Davies, Jonathan Frakes, Denise Crosby, Mark Hamill, Gina Carano, Sean Astin, and many more.
The Fandom
But as exciting as meeting celebrities can be, some of my favorite parts of FAN EXPO happen right on the convention floor. I love exploring Artist Alley and seeing the incredible talent on display, checking out the amazing cosplay—from DC and Marvel heroes to characters from just about every fandom imaginable—and visiting groups like the 501st Legion. There is something special about being surrounded by thousands of people who share the same love for comics, movies, superheroes, science fiction, fantasy, and all things pop culture.

So, if you see Steve and Jerimie from Fandom Blast wandering the halls of FAN EXPO Canada this weekend, please come up and say hi! We’ll be the guys probably carrying comics, taking way too many photos, admiring cosplay, and trying to figure out how we managed to spend more money than we planned in Artist Alley. 😂
