“I’m Batman.”
I love a lot of superheroes, but something about Batman feels different. I have been a Batman fan for as long as I can remember, and year after year, the Dark Knight remains one of my favourite characters in comics. Maybe it’s the fact that Batman doesn’t have superpowers and still manages to stand alongside some of the most powerful heroes in the DC Universe. Maybe it’s the incredible stories told over the decades. Or it’s simply that Gotham City has some of the greatest characters and villains ever created. Whatever the reason, I absolutely love Batman and Batman Day is the perfect excuse to celebrate him!
On September 19, 2026, fans will come together for Batman Day. This year’s celebration includes the release of “Batman of Two Worlds”, a special one-shot featuring an all-new Batman story, including an Absolute Batman story. The day will also include special comic releases, collectibles, masks, retailer events, and more. For me, Batman Day means more. It’s a celebration of my favorite superhero. It’s about celebrating the Bat-tastic stories through the years. And let’s be honest, no one can argue that Batman has some of the best villains in all of comics! From the Joker and Two-Face to the Riddler, Penguin, Bane, Poison Ivy, Mr. Freeze, Scarecrow, and so many others, Batman’s rogues’ gallery is an amazing assembly of fun and evil.
So on this Batman Day, answer the Bat-signal call and head down to your local comic store and celebrate The Dark Knight. Here is what you can expect.

From the OFFICIAL DC Release:
TWO ICONIC WORLDS. ONE HISTORIC EVENT
Two worlds. One legendary hero. Batman of Two Worlds features an all-new Batman story by writer Matt Fraction and artist Javi Fernández, with colors by Tomeu Morey and letters by Clayton Cowles, alongside an all-new Absolute Batman story by writer Scott Snyder and artist Nick Derington, with colors by Frank Martin and letters by Tom Napolitano, celebrating the versatility of the World’s Greatest Detective. From the streets of Gotham City to the bold new landscape of the Absolute Universe, each story offers a unique perspective on Batman’s unwavering pursuit of justice. DC’s Batman of Two Worlds cover is by Jorge Jiménez, Nick Dragotta, and Frank Martin.
“Without giving too much away,” said Scott Snyder, “both stories are about theft, what theft means in one world versus the other, and what Batman’s form of justice looks like in each. That was the guiding principle that gave us the opportunity to tell two stories that celebrate each interpretation.”
“At the heart of it, it’s really simple,” said Matt Fraction. “One problem, two solutions. Each version of Batman has his own way of working and his own solution to that problem. The fun was putting them side by side so you can see the similarities, the differences, and the unique flavor and texture of each world.”

FOUR UNIQUE BATMAN MASKS
Available at participating local comics shops globally on Batman Day will be paper masks featuring Batman, Absolute Batman, Hush Batman, and Dark Knight Returns Batman. All four masks are by Ryan Sook, drawn in the styles of Jorge Jiménez, Nick Dragotta, Jim Lee, and Frank Miller respectively. Batman Day activities vary by retailer, so ask your local comics shop about masks, promotions, costumes, and other ways to celebrate.
